The Client

A large social care provider commissioned us to support their team with Power BI report development.

This charity supports about 2500 people with a broad range of needs. Their aim is to ensure their aim is to allow these people to live as independently as possible in their own homes and communities. We provide personalized, high-quality community-based support services for those who require assistance in their lives.

The Learning and Development department is central to ensuring that the high level of compliance continues to be met within the business.. Central to the department was reporting around KPI’s, certifications and training. Most of the data was extracted from the learningpool software system..

Power BI

The client were on a journey to move their reporting to Power BI. Although the initial steps were taken, the client faced several technical challenges.. Whilst they had made good progress were looking for external guidance. The client engaged Select Distinct to provide Power BI Mentoring to support their journey. This Power BI coaching and Power BI support was exactly what they were looking for.

Power BI Mentoring

We held regular review remote sessions with the client to discuss their Power BI pain points. Each session focussed on a different area to resolve. Select Distinct were able to provide guidance, coaching and advice to resolve these. This not only allowed automation of the reporting portfolio but also increased the clients knowledge of Power BI. This allowed them to use this knowledge to overcome any similar challenges in future.

The collaborative approach covered many advanced areas of Power BI. This included latest updates, Dax formula and modelling.

Result

The client saw a clear ROI (Return of Investment) from the Power BI coaching. Not only did they see a saving in report development time, but also got to realise the ull benefits of learningpool software. They also were able to demonstrate clear time saving due to reduction in report production time. The Learning and Development team learned new skills and solutions to accelerate their own report development for the future.

    We offer both, but we find that interactive remote sessions via Microsoft Teams work exceptionally well for distributed care teams. These sessions can be recorded, providing your staff with a bespoke library of training material that they can refer back to as they develop their reports.
